Zoom Out: The Small Reframe That Keeps You Consistent 👀

ree

Funny thing about habits: sometimes what looks like a small change can feel like a much bigger leap.

Over dinner the other week I was chatting with someone who shared she was trying to go from two gym sessions a week to three. Sounds small, right? Just one more workout. But it’s actually a bigger shift than it seems — more time, more energy, more gym kit to find and wash. And because life happens (travel, late nights, work chaos), that third session often slipped away.

I had two thoughts. First: two consistent sessions a week is already a rock-solid base. Three is great too, but don’t beat yourself up when it doesn’t always land.

The second was reframing. Instead of thinking per week, think per month. Two sessions a week is about eight a month, three a week is twelve. So aiming for ten puts you right in that sweet spot — it flexes with busy weeks but still nudges progress upward.

Weeks can feel like tightropes — one wobble and you’re off. Months give you more flex, more room to react, more forgiveness.

And here’s the best part: once you’re comfortably hitting 10 per month, nudging to 11 or 12 feels way less daunting than forcing a rigid “three every week” rule.

Zoom out. Give yourself some flex. Build from there.
